Balance Walk

This Saturday we were blessed with the most beautiful weather as we took a long 8k walk through the stunning picturesque countryside that surrounds Timsbury. In fact one of Balance’s yogis, Emily wrote on our Facebook about her experience and it sums it up perfectly…

‘A gorgeous walk! At one point we saw the bridge across the estuary to Wales followed a few minutes later by the white horse of Wiltshire in the opposite direction. Plus streams, rivers, waterfall, fields of barley waving in the breeze, the Somerset canal and a herd of goats following us… Thanks Sue, Corinne and everyone who came.’

For approximately 3 hours we stretched our legs taking on hills and passing through hedges, you would never have known were styles! Thanks to Corinne King who planned the route and with thorough detail we even got to hear about some of the history of the Mendips. Corinne the creator of our planned walk also organises and plans walks across Somerset for keen walkers. You can find out more on her website here:

On the wall coincidentally, we had  one representative from each of the classes and training sessions at Balance…Claire a PT client came with her mini walkers (Or passengers, I should say.) Her beautiful 7 month old twins… Daisy, attached to mum’s front with a rucksack to counterbalance on the back. and   her twin brother, Gethin attached to Sue’s front and definitely helped Sue bounce down the hills!

Mandy, who can certainly lift in LIIT came prepared with her wet weather gaiters which clearly helped her march up hills. Tony raring to go with his HIIT fitness and Mark made the use of his long legs leading the way with Benji and WillowShelley, was up there with them…. That ‘crazy’ early morning Boot Camp has clearly paid off! Emily also knew the area well and she gave me some insight into the kids summer camp as we walked upstream and towards the waterfall. It was clear to see that it would be the best outdoor play zone for kids with rope swings and woodlands to explore. CorinneAlan and Troy, the professional walkers gave us a real insight into what is just on the Balance doorstep. When are we walking next?

As you can imagine, after 3 hours we were in need of a cup of tea. And fortunately that is exactly what we got… Christine who runs welcomed us with all kinds of flavoured teas that tasted extremely refreshing with very interesting in flavours. We all deserved some cake to reboot the energy we’d put into our distance and so as Sue planned we had the most amazing cakes by Jess from And yes, of course they were healthy, vegan and gluten free, what could be better, healthy treats to end such a lovely day with such a nice bunch of Balance fitness walkers. Some of the Balance crew unfortunately missed the walk, but were able to make the tea  Oba who comes to Kettles and Rosemary and Roger who come to Pilates, and Tracey who does Pilates and who also likes to challenge the weights in LIIT!

Sue would like to say a huge thank you for coming. We will be looking into running another walk in September time and will let you know where and when soon.
