My name is Sue Jackson and I live just outside Bath, in the village of Timsbury.
I have been a dedicated sportswoman all my life and have always had an interest in fitness . I have played lacrosse, netball, volleyball, tennis and squash for various teams over the years and am a keen golfer and walker having 2 exercise hungry dogs.
I have attended many gyms over the years mostly in Bath but decided to complete my Level 2 Fitness Instructor and Level 3 Personal Training exams so that I could pass on my passion for fitness to others and base my gym in the villages to provide a service to people outside of the city.
Oba Noakes is a level 2 and 3 personal trainer, kettlercise and TRX instructor. She is also a fully qualified sports massage therapist and is a member of cross fit and a keen yoga and sports enthusiast. Originally from South Africa this has been her home now for 10 years. She is a busy Mum and understands the work life balance. She is a patient and caring trainer who works you hard but makes it fun.
Kara Herbert is our resident Yoga teacher She has been working as a freelance dancer, choreographer and teacher since graduating in 2002 with a 2:1 BA Hons in Creative Arts and dance and visual arts. Alongside her dance career, Kara has been practicing yoga for over 13 years and teaching in various studios and schools ever since. Kara aims for a relaxed and fun atmosphere in her classes as well as challenging and embracing the needs of each individual.
Mirella Lamarina for Yoga When Mirella found yoga in 2007 I started discovering myself in a new way, I was amazed by the many different aspect that a yoga session included.Her passion for the discipline has taken her and deepened her understanding and her first Ashtanga and Hatha yoga training in India in 2013 cemented that passion. The classes she teaches can be energetic and fast as well as slow and calm. In both cases you’ll go home feeling refreshed, stronger and surely calmer.
Mairi Connelly and Anna Beament for Pilates. Both Mairi and Anna are experienced Pilates teachers, Mairi is originally from London and moved her 5 years ago, she trained at the London institute of Pilates and has been teaching here at Balance almost from the start she is the regular teacher on Monday evenings. Anna has been a fitness instructor for many years and then specialised in Pilates and Pilates Reformers. She has her own studio on Bath and teaches the Wednesday lunch time slot here at Balance. They are both highly qualified in their field.
I have completed many challenges over the years and including a 10 day cycling challenge for The Willow Foundation where I cycled from the Vietnam capital to Anchor Watt in Cambodia. I believe having a goal will motivate you to achieve it, whether that be to get fitter or run a 5k race. I have trekked for 10 days in Burma. This was hot humid and difficult sleeping conditions but glorious unspoilt countryside. I raised Money through the gym for the Leonard Cheshire home, Green Hill House in Timsbury. Most recently I have climbed Mount Toubkal for the “Get Busy Living” campaign for he Matt Hampson Foundation for injured sports men and Women.
The Gym is set in beautiful countryside and is peaceful, quiet and private. This gym is designed for all those who would like to train in idyllic surroundings in a personal and unique training space with free parking and no traffic queues into and out of Bath!
