How to try to get that balance and wellness in your life

It’s that week of the year when many of us are returning from summer holidays, the kids are back at school, the nights are drawing in and our thoughts are returning to work and for many of us a kick start to a healthy lifestyle after many indulgent meals out and a few too many ice-creams!

September is a great opportunity to take stock of where you have been and where you would like to be both mentally and physically and to start focusing on your overall wellness. Instead of a quick fix diet or exercise plan, look to mindfully anchor wellness in your every day life by incorporating healthy habits on a daily basis to attain better physical and mental health outcomes, so that instead of just surviving, you’re thriving!

On Saturday the 29th September from 9:30am – 4:30pm we are delighted to offer our “Wellness Day”. Come along for the whole or 1/2 day to listen, take part and meet new people who can help you deal with the stresses and strains of modern life and provide you with coping mechanisms or simply answer questions on how to eat, sleep and function better. Wellness is a process of becoming aware and making balanced choices towards a healthy and fulfilling life. Don’t deny yourself of the pleasures you enjoy in life. Denial can be more destructive than eating that delicious piece of cake or drinking your daily cup of tea. Simply learn to eat, drink and exercise properly. At Balance we recognise the huge benefits of regular physical activity, healthy eating habits and self care can have on our daily lives and we reflect this in the classes that we offer to our members. Starting this month we have introduced a new “Healthy for Life” 45 minute class, on a Monday’s at  12pm Wednesdays at 10.45 and Fridays at 10.45am. These will Focus on gentle gym exercises incorporating light weights, cardio and stretching, this is an ideal class for those who are returning to exercise after a prolonged break, or following an operation.

For those who are looking for a more rigorous workout we are now offering a new Circuits/Bootcamp class at 7pm on a Monday evening. This hour long class is a mixture of strength training and high-intensified interval training to work your whole body.

Ruth Timms is extending her yoga offerings with two back to back yoga classes on a Thursday morning from 9.30am to 11:30am. Ruth’s dynamic yang flow style of yoga will make you feel energised and awake, where her yin yoga, for the second hour with its meditative approach is excellent for combating the symptoms of stress. The most important element of wellness is self care. With this in mind we have joined forces with Clearspace, and are delighted to offer a Balance Retreat at this beautiful and peaceful estate in Tuscany from the 7th to 14th June 2019.
