Burma Challenge completed…

I am back and the Trek was fantastic. We flew into Yangon the old capital of Burma which was Rangoon, via Kula Lumpa in Malaysia. We then went on go on to Trek in diverse landscapes in the  forested hills and farmland, off the beaten track where we witnessed village life unspoilt in the Shan Highlands. We then went on to Lake Inle  exploring the waterways and staying in authentic simple Buddhist monasteries sleeping on the floor most of the time! This was cold and draughty and the Cockerels also couldn’t tell the time and started their crazy wake up calls at 2am! It defiantly made me appreciate a good mattress and quiet bedroom…

The trek was demanding due to the heat and humidity and the dirt tracks are undulating and uneven. With 8/9 hours of walking a day…I had been practicing with walking her dogs and going as far and wide as possible at the weekends. I went treking for a bit in Dartmoor and often in the Mendips closer to home. What with that and the gym work I luckily had no blisters!

It was an amazing experience and a wonderful country. It is always great to have a goal in mind when you look at doing any sort of exercise, however it does not always have to be this extreme.

So go on…set yourself a goal next year and come to Balance and get us to help you achieve this however big or small.
